MORAVIAN AND VETERAN DRIVE

THE REFORESTATION OF LEFTOVER SPACES

PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

In 2002-2003, the St. Thomas-St. John Antilitter and Beautification Commission hired our office, Paradigm Design, to plan and design the tree planting of St. Thomas’ main transportation artery, spanning 1.6 miles from the Cyril E. King Airport to the Historic District of Charlotte Amalie. The attempt was to create a boulevard effect whenever possible using roadside medians and ROW/shoulders available on either side. We reached out to business owners along the corridor to explain the importance of scenic highways for a tourism-based economy, and to engage and integrate their leftover green areas in the overall reforestation plan.
